Dirty Baby Diapers! Everyone's Nightmare!

Whether this is your first baby or another addition to the family, changing dirty diapers is never fun. Included are some tips to make this a less 'stinky' and a safer task.

Diapering Tip #1:

This is a great tip for anyone changing diapers anywhere! Keep a ziploc bag with a fabric softener sheet inside your diaper bag. If you can't dispose of a dirty diaper right away, the scent of the fabric softener sheet will replace the smell of the diaper.

Diapering Tip #2:
All moms, but new moms in particular, are always concerned for the safety of their babies. This can be a challenge when you're alone and trying to change the diaper of a squirming baby. First, you never turn your back on your baby when they're on the changing table. The tip is to keep one hand on your baby at all times during a diaper change - it will make both of you feel more secure. This would be a good tip to share with babysitters, family members and friends who find themselves facing a very active baby who wants nothing to do with having their diaper changed!

Diapering Tip #3:

Diaper changes can become a real test of will once your baby can roll, sit, or stand. This "game" can be a heart-stopper if your baby lunges toward the edge of the changing table. One diapering trick

advises you to distract your baby with books or small toys. Keep books, teethers, or rattles within easy reach of the changing table or in the diaper bag when you're away from home. Have these items on the table before you lay the baby down, so you don't have to leave your baby unattended for even a second.

Diapering Tip #4:

This great tip involves a trip to the incontinence aisle of the supermarket - no joke! Look for "protective bed under pads in extra large" that work amazingly well on top of the changing table. For a reasonable price, these pads will make cleaning messes easy. When disaster strikes, just throw out the pad and grab a new one.

You're now a diaper-changing wizard. Just remember - baby boys in particular like to wait until the diaper is off before they 'let go' again! Maybe it would be a good idea to keep a pair of goggles and a plastic raincoat handy.
