Robert Koch(1843-1910)
The German bacteriologist who was one of the pioneers of bacteriology. He developed systematic techniques for isolating and testing bacteria. His methods became the basis of modern bacteriology. He isolated and identified the anthrax causing bacillus, the tuberculosis basillus and the organism that causes cholera. He was awarded the Nobel prize in 1905.
