Karl Wilhelm
Scheele(1742-1786)

A self taught Swedish chemist and pharmacist. He was the first to
identify and prepare Oxygen. He also discovered chlorine and isolated
phosphorus. He described the effect of light on certain silver salts which
led to the invention of photography after 50 years. As he didn't have an
academic position, he didn't receive the recognition he deserved.
