Born on November 19, 1887 in Massachussets, America. At the age of 17,
his left hand was cut off in an accident. In 1914 he raduated in research
from Harwards university. He gave much importance in the study of enzymes.
Later he developed an enzyme, 'ureaes' from a gram plant and proved that it
is a protein. He crystallised ureaes and found out its qualities exactly. He
was awarded the nobel prize for chemistry in 1946. Died on August 1955.
