Hans Krebs(1900-1981)
German born British Bio chemist pioneered work on the chemical processes involved in metabolism. In 1937 he discovered Kreb's cycle, the process in which the body cells convert food into energy. For this he shared the Nobel prize for physiology/ medicine in 1953 with the US Bio chemist Fritz Lipmann(1899-1986). He also discovered the urea cycle, the key chemical process involved in excretion. In 1958 he was honored with a knight hood.
