Galen(c.Ad 130-200)
A Greek physician, who discovered that it is the arteries that carry blood. Until then it was believed that the arteries carried air. He also made observations about muscles, bones and the heart. He drew conclusions about the human body from the dissection of animals and therefore some of his ideas were not accurate.
