Enrico Fermi(1901-1954)
The Italian born Us physicist, best known for his work on the atomic bomb and nuclear energy. He got the Nobel prize for physics in 1938. He created new radioactive elements by bombarding the nuclei of atoms with neutrons. He produced the first controlled nuclear chain reaction. A class of subatomic particles called fermions and the artificial radio active element fermium are named after him
