Carolus Linnaeus(1707-1778)
The Swedish Physician and naturalist renowned for his contribution to natural history. He developed the system of classification of plants and animals, that formed the basis of modern taxonomy. He also established the practice of naming plants and animals using two Latin words. In 1778 the linnaen society was found in London in his honor.
