Andre-Marie Ampere(1775-1836)
A French Physicist and mathematician. He was born in Lyon but later lived in polymieux as his father want to concentrate in his studies. Despite of not attending the school, he was given an excellent education. Most of his learning was acquired through the reading of the Encyclopedia. He produced complete proof of the relation ship between electricity and magnetism. He also developed a new way of classifying chemical elements. Ampere's name was given to the basic unit of electricity-the ampere or amp.
